Just as there are countless number of emotions so there are Lighting Styles suitable for their expression.
Before engaging in creation of styles in lighting it is appropriate to grasp understanding of basic properties of the phenomenon of
light as: Quality, Color, Direction
Photographic understanding of light does not come from books and/or teachers alone. It rather is a result of observing and
contemplating light phenomenon in nature.
Seeing and understanding reasons for light changes in quality, intensity and color through out day helps with trying to recreate
certain of its nuances on stage.
The process of lighting is rarely about recreating reality. Artist will frequently exaggerate expression for the reasons of being
visually eloquent. In this respect the subjectivity is the element that makes the process being so exciting.
