LIGHT
Quality Direction Ambiance Style

Just as there are countless emotions so there are Lighting Qualities and Lighting Styles suitable for their expression. Before engaging in creating Lighting Style one needs to grasp understanding of basic properties of Light as without it any creative approach will prove to have been quite a futile undertaking. In contrary to popular belief, photographic knowledge of Light does not come from books... it rather is a result of one's observation and contemplation of its natural phenomena in nature.
There will be no Lighting without understanding of Light.
Lighting is a relationship between Light - Subject - Viewer. It rarely is about recreating Reality. It is rather about our subjective interpretations of it, and this is what makes it so exciting. Light is around us. It has been here for billions of years... not a single moment ever the same (Panta Rhei). Those who tune in, get rewarded with perpetual Light Show in progress. From cinematic point of view following light attributes are of primary importance:
Light Quality, Light Ambiance, Light Direction, Lighting Style
